Welcome to the Web site of Flotilla 2-14, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, in Eagle River, Alaska. We are part of the 17th District, which encompasses all of Alaska. We serve the communities of Eagle River, Chugiak, Birchwood and Peters Creek by providing boating education, conducting salt water and lake safety patrols, performing free safety checks on vessels, and otherwise promoting recreational boating safety. We also enjoy each other’s company, comparing tales of the sea and sharing boating tips.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary is the uniformed civilian component of the Coast Guard established by Congress in 1939 to assist in promoting boating safety. It boasts nearly 30,000 members from all walks of life who receive special training so they may be an integral part of Coast Guard Forces. Auxiliarists assist the Coast Guard in non-law enforcement programs such as those mentioned above. Auxiliarists donate more than 2 million hours annually to benefit other boaters and their families.

Current members are encouraged to visit the Members Only , above, to check member training schedules, the calendar of coming events, and what’s new!

Become apart of America's Volunteer Lifesavers!

We are looking for men and women who would like to volunteer to help us serve while taking advantage of our extensive training programs. If you are 17 years or older, and are interested in becoming an Auxiliary member, please select the Join Us Now! box on the left menu.

If you own a boat, paddlecraft or personal watercraft, our flotilla is happy to provide you with a Vessel Safety Check free of charge. Upon meeting the requirements of the VSC program, you are entitled to display the Safety Seal on your vessel. This decal shows your dedication to safety and assures your vessel is properly equipped. The VSC program is totally voluntary and no citations are ever issued. To schedule a VSC, please click "Vessel Safety Checks" in the left menu and learn more.

Our flotilla meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month, except in the summer, June through August. We meet at the University of Alaska Eagle River Campus, Rm. 238. The meetings begin at 7 p.m. and the public is always welcome.

New online: Modern Marine Navigation

New boaters who don’t have time to take a safe boating class or who live too far away from a Coast Guard Auxiliary flotilla now have an online course tailored for their needs.
The Coast Guard Auxiliary, in partnership with the Boat US Foundation, is launching a new educational program for boaters, an on-line, self-study course called Modern Marine Navigation. Boaters who enroll in this course will learn, using their own computers or tablets, in the comfort of their own homes.
This is the only navigation course offered anywhere that has been completely vetted by the US Coast Guard Navigation Center. It will be the gold standard of navigation courses. This course opens a new market to Auxiliary boating education, and it offers a direct financial benefit to Auxiliary flotillas.
Each person who enrolls in the course, using a nearby Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla number as a “promo code” on the Modern Marine Navigation course website, will receive a discount of over 10% off the purchase price. And for each of those enrollments, the Flotilla will receive a revenue share of $5.
The Modern Marine Navigation online interactive self-study course costs $39.99 and will be available on the Boat US Foundation website http://www.boatus.org/courses/ on or about March 1. However, with a promo code, the cost will be $34.99, and the flotilla you designate will receive $5.
